Authorized Drivers

With larger meets such as Nationals coming up, we NEED more authorized drivers. Every car needs two authorized drivers to be able to travel. On our website, visit the "About" tab and select "Membership". If you scroll down, Step 7 outlines in detail how to become an authorized driver. It doesn't take long to do, and it would help us all out (especially Hanna, Matt, & Evan)!

NEW STUFF

Valentines Day 5k

6 cows represented WTC in running club's Valentine's Day 5k on saturday. There were two teams that competed: Cierra Haupert / Ryan Diedrich (aka Mr. Prez), and Megan Buechel / Matt Kuik.  Madi Pape and Morgan Sanger also competed! Madi placed first in the women's competition. Matt and Megan, or team "Fast Zooms" won the co-ed division by over 2 minutes. While Cierra and Ryan didn't win, their team name, "Barack & Michelle" was deserving of its own prize.

For complete results, click here.

For event photos, click here. (visit Running Club at UW-Madison's Facebook page)

org fair

A lot of potential cows stopped by our booth at the org fair and expressed interest in joining the club. Keep an eye out for new members at practice and make sure they feel included and welcome!

Kick-off Meeting

The kick-off meeting was also successful despite our secretary (me) being unable to secure a room with an HDMI hook up. Since we couldn't go through the powerpoint at the meeting, here is a link if you'd like to take a look at it. If you were not able to sign the required waiver for Nationals, please contact Evan Routhier (erouthier@wisc.edu) to set up a time when you can do so.

Bowling

Join your fellow cows for a fun night at the Sett! We are planning on bowling, which costs $4 per person per game plust $2.50. Pool tables are also available for $8/hour.

Special shoutout to Madi Pape for being the ONLY female to compete in the 3k (and smiling every lap of the way)! Congratulations to everyone who competed!

TIME TRIAL

Over 30 cows came out to compete in the spring time trial! For the first unofficial meet of the season, there were some amazing performances. Out of the 21 male athletes in the mile, Evan Routhier finished in first in 4:26. On the female side, while only 4 cows competed, Allie Levin came out on top with an impressive time of 5:38. The 200m and 800m races had less competitors, but no shortage of fast times. Peter Van Beek and Alice Hermet sprinted to victory in the 200m finishing with times of 23.25 and 28.5. Martin Haugstad and Zoe Panos were the champions in the 800m, finishing in 2:06 and 2:32.

While it's true these individual races provide a great baseline for the rest of the season, the event we were all waiting for was the 4x400m relay. The all male team of Gabe, Payton, Logan, and Kevin came out victorious. Thanks to all the competitors and volunteers for making the event a success!

Complete meet results can be found here, and the pictures can be found here. Thank you Luke for taking some great photos!
