Gene Davis recap

The mud didn't slow the cows down, with the women snagging a top three team finish and the men winning overall! Special shoutout to our 4 WTC members who placed in the top 15. Allie Levin finished in 4th with a PR and speedy time of 23:11. For the men, Nathan Orf finished in 9th with a time of 26:51, Sam Jaeger close behind in 10th (26:52), and Luke Kubasta in 13th (27:02). Rounding out the top 5 scorers for the men were Sam Brey (27:12) and Nick Juntunen (27:15). On the women's side, the next 4 finishers were Zoe Panos (24:15), Megan Buechel (24:32), Autumn Wickman (24:34), and Sylvia Lechnir (24:38). The temps are cooling down and the cows are speeding up. Let's keep the momentum going for La Crosse, another fast course!

Top 10 List Changes:

-Allie Levin moves into 2nd with a time of 23:11

-Zoe Panos moves into 9th with a time of 24:14

You can view the meet results here, and the photos here. Thank you to Luke (& Haley) for some great pics! Make sure to give photo creds if you use any of these pictures.

regionals/Nationals

You must race at Regionals to be able to race at Nationals. In order to compete in the post season, there are a few steps you need to take. Here is what you need to do to be eligible:

1) Sign the participation waver (the one that was at the kick off meeting). If you have not yet signed it please email @erouthier@wisc.edu (our meet coordinator) to set up a time to do so.

2) Fill out all of the WIN forms. If you have been racing at other meets these should already be complete. However, please double check.

3) Online NIRCA waiver. This is accessible via your NIRCA account on the NIRCA website. If you are a freshman or new member, you should have recently received an email with your account information. If you did not receive an email with login info, please email Evan Routhier ASAP so he can fix it.

Authorized Drivers

If you are a Wisconsin Resident and competing in meets, you need to become an authorized driver. It takes under 5 minutes to do! We are required by RecSports to have 2 authorized drivers in each car. If not enough people are authorized, it makes Hanna Docter's job EXTREMELY difficult, especially for bigger meets such as Regionals and Nationals. If you have any questions about this, feel free to email or message any of the board members.

NEW STUFF

Border Battle recap

We may not know how to coordinate our jerseys, but we sure know how to beat the gophers in a 10k! The weather was perfect, and the cows took full advantage. The Wisco men beat out Minnesota by 24 points, while the Wisco women also dominated the race with a 17 point lead. In the men's race, the top 3 finishers were all cows: Matt Kuik (31:40.7), Kevin Dado (32:03.7), and Joachim Rosbo (32:28.5). Rounding out the score for the men was Evan Routhier (33:37.0) and Sam Jaeger (33:47.2). On the women's side, Brooke Young finished in 1st with a time of 40:09.9 with Allie Levin (41:10) in 3rd. Rounding out the score was Kaylee Sadeghpour-Hess (42:08.4), Sylvia Lechnir (42:44.1), and Sarah Parbs (43:06.6). Congratulations to everyone who competed in our first dual race of the season! Click here for results.

griak

Get pumped for Griak this weekend!! Hanna Docter will be sending out the car/housing arrangements, and Evan Routhier will be sending out the meet information ASAP, so keep an eye out for that. Friday night we will meet up at Rachel Anderson's house (in Hudson, right outside Minneapolis) for a team pasta party! (Special thanks to Rachel and her family for doing this for so many years! Us hungry cows really appreciate it). If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to any of the board members (Hanna Docter if it is about travel arrangements). Make sure your semester dues are paid BEFORE this weekend.

Upcoming meets

The deadlines for Gene Davis and the Kollege Town Invite are fast approaching! These are two great meets you do not want to miss. Here are three reasons why:

-Overnight meets, while an amazing experience, can be hard to commit to. Gene Davis and Kollege Town are both only a few hours away and you'll be home by Saturday evening.

-A ton of cows have PRed at these meets, as they're both fast and flat courses.

-They're a great opportunity to tune up for Regionals and Nationals!

Kick-off Meeting

This Wednesday at 8pm in the Brogden Psychology Building Lecture Hall 107 is our club kick-off meeting! If you are new, this will be a great opportunity to get all your questions answered about the club. For returning members and new members alike, you can purchase and pick up the new jersey. Additionally, if you want to compete at Nationals, you MUST fill out the required waiver at the meeting. There will be pizza 🙂

griak

The deadline to sign up for Griak is THIS WEDNESDAY at midnight. While Griak is a challenging course, it's an awesome experience, especially since it is an overnight meet. It gives you a great chance to get to know your fellow cows. If you haven't already, please sign up to be authorized driver (Hanna, aka Dr. Docter will love you forever if you do).

Intrasquad 5k Recap

We had a huge turnout for the first race of the season! Congrats to everyone who came out and competed, despite the less than ideal temperatures. Kevin Dado finished first for the men with a time of 15:36, and Brooke Young won in 19:21 for the women. There were impressive finishes all around. If people keep signing up for meets, we should have a successful season all around!

NEW STUFF

Nationals

The deadline to sign up for Nationals is THIS WEDNESDAY at midnight. Many believe it is the best meet that WTC attends, so definitely sign up!

If you have signed up and have not filled out the required waiver, you must meet with Evan Routhier ASAP this week (BEFORE spring break). You can reach him on facebook or via email (erouthier@wisc.edu).

Due to Indiana University resurfacing their track, Nationals will be held at Shelbyville High School instead, which is about 75 minutes northeast of Bloomington. The half-marathon will still take place in Bloomington, so anyone wishing to run the half-marathon is still able to do so. Additionally, all track and field events will still be offered as they have been in past years (with the exception of steeplechase). Click here for more info. Obviously this situation is not ideal, but we still have a fantastic shot at winning the national title and it will be a great time!

our wisconsin program

ASM notified us that all dues-paying members of track club will have to attend the "Our Wisconsin" program next Wednesday (3/21) 7:30-9:30pm in Union South. This program covers hate, bias, and racism as well as how to deal with these problems. It is imperative that at least 35 club members attend this session to ensure we retain funding from ASM and Rec Sports (which keep the meet fees down and allow the club to host events). We will be supplying pizza for this event! If you are a dues-paying member of WTC and do not have prior commitments (work, schedule exam, etc.), sign up here.

Apparel

If you took a jersey from Sabrina at Club Relays and HAVE NOT PAID you must do so ASAP. Venmo @WiscoTC or pay either Sabrina Belisle or Matt Land in person. New apparel forms should be coming out very soon!
