pointer final qualifier recap

The club represented well at Steven's Point this weekend, holding its own against some of the fastest D3 athletes. On the women's side, Allie Levin placed 4th in the 3k despite it being her first time competing in the event. The male cows dominated in the mile with lots of PRs, as Evan G. Kohl finished in first with Kevin Dado a close second. Congrats to everyone who competed!

Deadline to Sign up: March 21st @ Midnight

Date: April 13th-15th (leave Friday, return Sunday)

This is one of the best meets of the spring, so definitely consider signing up. Don't just take it from me, though. I reached out to some fellow cows that have competed at Nationals in the past, and they had a lot to say:

Ryan Diedrich: "Nationals is by far my favorite meet of the spring season, and it is the one meet you do not want to miss. It is a great opportunity to bond with members of the club that you might not typically spend time with, and it also gives you a great chance to see the depth of talent that we have in our club. My favorite memory from Nationals was seeing the men win the National title and watching the women take third. I think our club is primed to bring this year's trophies back to Madison!"

Cierra Haupert: "For the half marathon, I have PR'd both years I've run! It's a very fun and competitive race. It is notoriously hilly, but I remember having fans and strangers cheering along all the hills and it made me power through! Members should sign up for nats because it's the best competition and it's always a really fun and exciting weekend."

Laura Canapa: "My favorite memory of Nats includes food of course. There is a restaurant in Indiana called Steak n' Shake, and it's just a typical burger joint. But we went there last year (and previous years) after the meet and it was amazing eating crappy, no-good-for-you food with my teammates who I had gotten closer with over the weekend!"

Max Ritzow: "I would say that some of my favorite memories of all the meets I've done with the club have come from Nationals. The amount of athletes from all over the country that come together for a meet like this means you get to make friends from all over! The NIRCA snapchat stories are always a highlight too! "

Michael Fink: "I guess my favorite part was the social aspect. It was pretty fun to be able to actually be at a meet long enough to get to know others on the team outside of the socials and practices. Also, Nationals is far more laid back than I thought, so I highly recommended anybody of any skill level to go and compete, regardless of whether they think they are prepared or not."

Kevin Boyle: "If you want the full WTC experience, you go to NIRCA Nats. I could go on and on with great stories, however nothing beats getting that 1st place trophy. "

Evan G. Kohl: "Last year we had the largest team go to NIRCA Nats that I had ever seen, and it was so fun seeing so many cows competing!! I can't wait to see if we can repeat our success this year! "

Hanna Docter: "If you only go to one meet with WTC, it should be Nationals. There's a heightened level of excitement and competition unlike any other meet we compete in. Two nights in a hotel with lots of weirdos, pasta, and unpredictable weather... what could go wrong?! Just come, you may end up meeting your best friend or future spouse. "

A huge thank you to everyone who responded! SIGN UP FOR NATS!
